In 2005, Coach Scott created the Stadium Addition Fund Effort (S.A.F.E.) with a goal of completing badly needed half-time rooms at Warrior Field by September 1, 2009, the 50th year of football at BHS.  These half-time rooms are not locker rooms but furnished with folding chairs only, air conditioning and heat as well as rest rooms and water fountains.  They will be used by both football and soccer (home and visitor) teams.  With the addition of these rooms, both teams will be better able to utilize their half-time minutes.  Currently ½ of these minutes are wasted getting up to and back from the locker rooms/gym in the school.  It will also provide air conditioning and heat in a shelter at the stadium.  BABI has served as a collection agent for S.A.F.E. since November 2005.  During the past 4 years, BABI/S.A.F.E. have raised $45,000, but $19,000 has been spent for an engineer, an architect, signage, and advertising.   An additional $10,000 will be due after the site engineer is finished.  Read more below!

SAFE

Dear Friends of Boonsboro High School,

We are not able to start building the team rooms addition in the stadium on 6/1/09, which was the target date but we believe it is possible to have excavation and foundation by November, 2009.  WCBOE approved $150,000 in support of SAFE in its current budget.  Construction costs will be $212,000 - $253,000.  Some of this cost may by reduced by material donations. SAFE still has the potential to raise more - $1,650 from the Football Players sign and $7,500 on the Corporate Donors sign.  WCBOE has been asked to bid the job in 2 phases so that construction can still begin in the fall.  Approval will depend on how much BHS supporters can contribute now. 

Mark Angle is the new Chair of SAFE and Dwight Scott is the Financial Manager on the committee.

Additional Fund Raising

A plaque honoring the three coaches of BHS football, Coach Scott, Coach Don Lewis, and Coach Clayton Anders will be placed on the wall of the Stadium Team Room. The plaque has room for 150 player’s names.  Any alumni player wishing to have his name placed on the plaque may do so by contributing $50 toward the project. This will be limited to the first 150 players that respond.

A donation of $250 puts your company or group name on a permanent, lighted sign in the stadium.
